sahirin - clever or experienced?

consider the following verses

7:109 - قَالَ الْمَلَأُ مِنْ قَوْمِ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّ هَذَا لَسَاحِرٌ عَلِيمٌ
7:112يَأْتُوكَ بِكُلِّ سَاحِرٍ عَلِيمٍ

Both are translated as thus:
7:109 - The leaders among Pharaoh's people said, "This is no more than a clever magician.
7:112 - "Let them summon every experienced magician."

what makes one magician experienced and one clever???
 in relation to sahirin aalimun(109)  and sahirin aalimun(112)??

the arabic is pretty much the same?

 for me i gather "knowledgeable" magician as  being more apt ..

 onto another note - surah 7, 20, 26, 10, similar in relation to the magicians, pharaoh and moses.
